Why they might be annoying
The band contains anywhere from 10-20 lead singers on stage at once. The singers don't harmonize, rather they sound like a bunch of guys at a bar doing karaoke together.
They have greatly benefited off of being in video games like Guitar Hero, The Sims and Rock Band.
A drunken Jimmy Fallon was once a guest singer for them.
Their style consists of throwing away traditional songwriting structures like verses, so their songs are just catchy choruses and as many guitar solos as possible.
They opened for the reincarnation of Lynyrd Skynyrd which contains virtually no remaining original members, and also meant there were two bands consisting of over 30 people.
Why they might not be annoying
They have an original gimmick.
They have a cult following in their hometown of Boston.
The Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins play 'Push, Push (Lady Lightning)' in heavy rotation at their games.
They played at Lollapalooza 2008.
They've played shows with everyone from Alice Cooper to Ben Folds to the Arctic Monkeys.
