They gave Country music a rock edge by insisting on adding drums.
Their music is popular among non-country fans as well.
Country fans are extremely loyal, and want personal contact with their artists.
Considering that Alabama strayed from country tradition by using a drummer, they still managed to gain a huge country fan base.
Post-Alabama country groups started to hire drummers.
They raised several million dollars to help their local town of Fort Payne, Alabama.
